GRACE

Some couple of weeks back, while hanging out with a friend during the cool evening hours and chatting on our strategies to map out our visionary plans, a call from a female friend disrupted our little meeting. The caller was calling me to inform me of the sudden demise of her closest and bosom friend whom I met through her.

Joy is gone” her words rang out, and out of confusion trying to figure out what she said, her other words resonated the message “Joy is no more”. This quickly registered the message and I came to the sullen realisation that a beautiful lady has passed away with no apparent chronic ailment but just a regular asthma not properly handled had claimed her life.

A week before then, I was surfing gingerly and scrolling down my Instagram page to catch up with news feeds from friends when I noticed an update from a former college colleague uploading a picture of a female friend and wrote beneath “R.I.P Bridget”! Oh this must be another silly joke by this guy, examining the post closely and rushing down to check on her page, numerous R.I.P messages decorated the news-feed and it dawned on me that a close colleague of mine, that was full of life, vibrant and energetic, known for her craze for fashion, entertainment and lifestyle while we were in the university, studying in a challenging francophone West-African country had just passed away without any notice. I reflected back on her happy and entertaining post she last made on Facebook.

The word grace made more sense to me on realising how lucky I have been to still be alive by the grace of God and pursue my dreams. Life is fragile, so stay alive and always be agile.

Our God is an ever merciful and gracious God and the grace he has given You and I to be alive is to fulfill our promised destiny and be an instrument of praise and gratitude to his everlasting mercy and grace. Are you grateful to be alive and happy for the grace?

(Eph. 2:8-9, 1 Corinthians 15:10, Hebrew 4:16, James 4:6, Titus 2:11)

THE DESTINATION

A destination simply means a point of arrival from a departure. On a busy evening back from my place of work, I boarded a commercial bus with a group of eclectic passengers all heading to different destinations.

A humid air pervaded the environment, and the thoughts of everyday struggle for a daily bread seemed to hang like a soap bubble over their heads. Friendly conversations amongst passengers were rare in this harsh economic recession time plaguing the country. A packed bus of passengers thinned out gradually as everyone alighted at different junctions and destinations.

There's a final destination we are all headed to in this rat race called life and this prompts an important question of where would be one's final destination.

The book of life known as the bible and the most widely read book till date, assures and eliminates the fear of an abysmal final destination of human race by guaranteeing a place called heaven (Rev 21:1-8) with our Lord Jesus Christ which will be the best final destination for a human life salvaged by divine salvation. Our final destination is resurrection with Jesus in the new heavens and new earth (1 Cor 15:35-58) .
What is your final destination?

THE REPORT CARD

I was recently going through an old suitcase in my house which was known for housing important documents dating back from my earlier days. There was an urgent need to locate an old document since I needed it to apply for a crucial application.

I dashed into a store room and reached out for this old briefcase, on opening it I quickly perused through a pile of documents. An old report card caught my attention for no reason; it was a Junior Secondary School 1 (JSS1) report card. An instinct urged me to open it, momentarily forgetting about my initial aim of getting that vital document for application.

On opening it, I silently observed my grades back in JSS 1, Awori College Ojo, 1994, to be precise.
The grades weren’t that bad, but on an average, the teacher’s remark about me made me chuckle and glee with amusement, which read “A NICE, QUIET AND OBEDIENT STUDENT BUT NEEDS TO IMPROVE IN MATHS”.

There’s a more important Report Card which will be assessed and remarked on the Judgment Day (Hebrews 9:27) by God on our account here on earth which would be a yardstick to an eternal life in heaven (John 15:2, Gal. 5:22-23).

The Bible which remains the greatest book of law urged us to live a veritable Christian life which has its first and foremost commandment as loving our neighbors as ourselves (Mark 12:30-31), and obeying his commandments which would reflect in our daily life’s and extend his evangelical mission through our mode of lifestyle (John 4:36, Rom. 1:13), while also affecting humanity with a positive light being the Children of God and the Light of the world which would definitely be the our best REPORT CARD assessed by our heavenly father and Lord Jesus Christ.

Action Point: Your life must fulfill God’s purpose and will.
Prayer Point: Lord let my life fulfill your will and purpose.

THE BACKUP PLAN

On a fateful day while being in an inspirational mood of writing on my laptop, it went blank suddenly and after subsequent attempts to make it come on it dawned on me that my laptop computer has crashed. I almost lamented the loss of my files ranging from the most important ones like my poems, write-ups, documents and music files, but I quickly remembered with a ray of hope and excitement that I had backed up most of the files on an external USB Flash drive.

This quickly reminded me of life here on earth, if we truly have a back-up plan for it. The Bible talked about a notable character named Jesus Christ who highlighted the need to accept a divine salvation full of grace while living a life devoid of sin which would act as a perfect back up plan for an eternal life in heaven.

Do you have a backup plan?

THE POWER TO PERSEVERE

Good day to you dearly beloved,
Perseverance remains one of the most powerful words ever known to mankind and nature, hence the topic "THE POWER TO PERSEVERE" beckoned instinctively on my spirit.

I know we are quite familiar with this word "To Persevere" which means to be unshakable, inflexible and undaunting no matter the situation on ground. It's more like a staunch faith to achieve an intended positive purpose.

According to two international dictionaries, Perseverance simply means "To maintain a purpose in spite of difficulty, obstacles, or discouragement. While another notable standard dictionary cites it as "To be constant or steadfast in any course."

I would like us to look at it from different perspectives, i.e. For example let's take a look at nature. A woodpecker, which is a kind of bird that is typically known for pecking hard woods or barks of trees, would stop at nothing until it discovers "Ants" before it stops pecking, that's the Power to Persevere!

Also another notable and amazing example is that of a natural resource called the Charcoal that could persist through several hours of intense heat to transform into a magnificent Diamond.

Great historical personalities, like Napoleon Bonaparte the French emperor regarded as one of the greatest strategic military leaders who persevered through challenges and Christopher Columbus who discovered a new land called America, and Winston Churchill the courageous Prime Minister of Great Britain are veritable examples of heroes who had "The Power To Persevere" and metamorphosed like a moth to a victorious butterfly.

We must cling on to perseverance in this present times of economic, political and financial difficulties plaguing the world.

I'm a living testimony of "The Power To Persevere" which has transformed me and will also transform you in no time to an hero to be reckoned with.
We must never give in to trying times and make the devil use us as instruments in his destructive plans.

The Bible chronicled notable heroes who persevered even though nobody wanted to believe in their faith to overcome and finally emerged as heroes. We can cite notable examples like David, Abraham, Moses, Joshua and a host of other victorious biblical characters that paved the victorious pathway on "The Power To Persevere"
(Romans 5:3-4, James 1:12, Ephesians 6:18, 2 Peter 1:5-6, Romans 12:12)

You have the Amazing Power To Persevere! If only you believe with a relentless divine faith.
Have a lovely weekend ahead.

Ciao, Aurevoir & Goodbye!

THE DESCRIPTION

A description simply tries to describe and explain the best known qualities which may be a behaviour, character or attitude extending to the physical properties of that entity.

I was sitted on a hot sunny afternoon in a grocery store, trying to place some orders for some food items when i noticed and overheard a sales-boy trying to answer a question posted by a senior salesman by describing the customer with a description that best denotes a positive attitude and character about that person.

This quickly reminded me of a solid fact that our character and attitudes in combination with our physical attributes will best describe us to someone who wants to get a best description about us if the need arises.

The Bible chronicles a distinct character named JESUS, that depicts a perfect Christian behaviour that further exemplifies a Christlike attitude of Kindness, Gentleness, Simplicity, Honesty, Meekness, Humility, Forgiveness, Loving, compassionate and a range of positive characters that best describes our Lord Jesus Christ.
(John 15:5, Hebrews 10:22, John 8:12, Ephesians 2:10, 1 John 5:1-21, Luke 23:34)

The description of an entity will best reflect it's behaviour and attitude in line with it's physical attributes.
Jesus Christ must be a perfect role model in projecting a Christian like attitude that will be the best description.
